Summer & School Holiday Day Camp offers structured, fun-filled and meaningful activities for your child. This program is available at Junior Academy and Junior Academy Small Wonders. Junior Academy Children’s Centers was the first to provide a private traveling Day Camp in Colorado Springs. Our philosophy is to present an activity-rich, age-divided, high-quality environment for children between the ages of 5 and 15. We believe that providing a positive and challenging setting stimulates self-confidence and enjoyment. Junior Academy Children’s Centers offers your child a safe, healthy, wonderful adventure that builds responsibility and valuable life skills.

At the beginning of summer, we provide our parents with a detailed calendar listing all of the activities each month. Because our campers are away from the site most of the day, we require parents to provide a sack lunch every day. Our Day Camp director, counselors, and staff are well educated, experienced and dependable in all phases of camp activities. Each of them is trained in First Aid and CPR. We maintain a child-counselor ratio of 1-12 (the state requirement is 1-15).

One cornerstone of our Day Camp program is the swimming lessons we provide. Three days a week, all campers have private lessons at an indoor swimming pool, which we rent exclusively for our camp. The lessons are Red Cross-approved, given by experienced swimming instructors who have obtained their WSI (Water Safety Instructor). Each child’s placement for lessons is based on the child’s previous experience, ability and pre-testing.

In addition, we rent Skate City twice a week for the children’s enjoyment and to develop their physical skills. The children also go on exciting, child-friendly field trips in and around the Pikes Peak region. These include the North Pole, Sky Sox games, and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We plan many, many adventures for the children, such as nature walks, organized sports, Fun Fair Day, bowling, ice-skating and miniature golf. Each child is challenged to meet his/her optimum level - intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally.

Junior Academy also offers fun and educational activities, including a literacy/reading program, arts and crafts, cooking, and science and math projects. We have a balanced variety of age-appropriate activities, such as sign language, multi-cultural activities, foreign language, and a play, which is practiced throughout the summer and then performed for the parents.

Imagination in Education Day Camp provides on-site Day Camp during the summer and school holidays. Several of our sites will close for the summer and/or school breaks, as we must maintain a certain number of children in order to stay open. If your particular site does close, you will have the choice of sending your child to a nearby on-site program, or to one of our main sites (Junior Academy and Junior Academy Small Wonders).

These programs offer a simpler, somewhat less active atmosphere with only two to three field trips a week. As with the main sites, you will be given a detailed calendar for each month at the beginning of summer.

The Day Camp programs at the on-sites are jam-packed with fun, exciting, and enriching activities. We plan activities based on a weekly theme, such as “Space Travel,” “Pirates,” and “Native Americans.” We then incorporate hands-on projects such as arts & crafts, reading/literacy, science, cooking/math, and indoor and outdoor activities. Both cognitive enrichment and physical activities are highly promoted. Every day is a new adventure, stimulating the children to be self-confident and respectful.

There is no other Day Camp program in the area that offers the number, quality and variety of activities, field trips, and active learning experiences than Junior Academy Children’s Centers.
